I heard about this organization in the Mason Magazine in 2022. At the time I was in the process of applying to schools in order to continue my education here in the US. I wanted to finish my undergraduate degree and got connected with a great mentor that was able to talk about career possibilities in the United States. Women Walking West provided me not only with guidance by experienced professionals but also with opportunities to improve myself like the essay contest in their last Gala dinner. On this occasion, I met some of the sponsors and community leaders. After some time I started receiving college offers and decided to go to the George Washington University in DC to study International Affairs with a concentration in Public Health. After this, Women Walking West offered me a very generous scholarship to help me achieve my dreams and continue my studies. I’m forever grateful and would strongly recommend this organization to anyone. I personally admire their mission to help foreign-born women and wish to one day be able to give back all the blessings they offered me. It was definitely a life-changing experience and I want people to recognize the importance of such an organization for our community.

I would like to thank Women Walking West for supporting women so we can achieve our goals and actually achieve our dreams. I have received money, from Women Walking West, which will help me complete my studies. I am studying English  as a second language at Sinclair College. With good language skills I can achieve goals in the field of psychology again. Thank you very much. I will never forget what W3 did for me.

I am undoubtedly thankful from the bottom of my heart to Alicia, Dr. Sehi and Marissa for unconditional support, respect and devotion. Truly, I am in debt forever. I really appreciate your sincere efforts Alicia, to help me find the best mentor. I am also sincerely thankful to Marissa who suggested a life changing book and grasped the root cause of my pursuit. The call Dr. Sehi made to talk to me personally had a huge impact on me. The warmth in his voice, his willingness to help me and his encouraging words were also a big factor for me to reach this decision. Thank you!

I would like to thank the Women Walking West organization for the scholarship.  For an international student it is a great help to find such an amazing organization that is willing to support students like me, who need emotional and financial support.  It was a really hard time due to COVID -19 and I was stressed due to financial issues.  To be honest, I had so much pressure to handle this difficult new situation.

Thank you for the support, trust, appreciation for hearing me out and helping me and other women who made a great decision to be in the US and to become an effective member of society.  Now I am critically thinking about how I could pay back to this amazing organization and how to support women worldwide after finishing my studies, as my main interest focuses mainly on women and how to improve their health.

As a newcomer to the United States, I found building a career is a big challenge, either how to plan or fund it.  To master this challenge, I looked for a professional organization to help me with that. It was a great opportunity to find Women Walking West, which is a unique organization. W3 not only gives financial support but they extend their great efforts to advising, guiding, following up and encouraging till you reach your planned goal.

I have been honored to receive a scholarship from them to support my education. I cannot express my gratitude to all board members and my great mentor for their great efforts to helping and supporting me.

The struggles faced by F1 students in the US are unfathomable. The most significant is the lack of guidance and assistance in all areas as it partakes to academic and overall success. I am very grateful to Women Walking West for the scholarship awarded to me. It really meant a lot to me and helped towards the completion of my degree.

I would like to thank W3 for this amazing platform they created. Where women from all races, and cultures get to be helped in one way or another. My awesome ESL instructor told me about W3, I was not sure if they would ever be able to help me. Nevertheless, I decided to reach out to them (at that moment I was in a pretty bad position financially). I was at my last semester at Cincinnati State and transferring to NKU. I was so grateful when I  received a call from W3 saying that I have obtained a check to go toward my education. This fund helped pick up a little less hours at work and focus more on my new goals.
I would not have accomplished this without reaching out to them. Not only was I helped financially but I also signed up for the mentorship program which has been helping me lay hands on what I needed to consider in many aspects of my life.  I am beyond THANKFUL.

I would like to thank W3 for their nonstop help, not only with their tutoring but financially too. I appreciate the help W3 provided to me, still until now. My mentor is wonderful and so helpful, I can reach out to her anytime and she is always available to answer my questions. I appreciate getting a scholarship to continue with my education. I appreciate their concerns and how willing they are to take off every barriers that foreign women may have and assist us in our success. W3 is my inspiration and I hope to be able to help the community like W3 does.

I needed help to find money to pay my application in the university and the transcripts from Colombia because I studied there. I was worried about the money to start to make my dream come true (study a professional program in English in another country). One day I was taking customer service class and the teacher invited an organization to talk to us, Women Walking West. The speaker told us, they provide help just to us in whatever topic we need, also if we need money to study here in US. At that time, I was thinking to start my process with the university in Ohio, so a couple of weeks later I sent an email and Women Walking West answer yes, they could help me. I received a cash award and I started to make my dream come true. I recommend this organization to any women who needs just talk about any issue in their life, because they help us, not just with money, also with mentors. They will do their best to do our life better. I like their ideas, they do sessions with mentors because currently the most important in the life is not just the money, it is to have a good life mentally and physically talking.

I was delighted and extremely happy when I received the news that Women Walking West offered me a scholarship. I don’t know how to thank you, and words can’t express my immense feelings. News of this scholarship relieved my constant worry over how to finance my education. This scholarship will alleviate the burden of bank debts, and let me focus more on my goals. In addition, it will boost my confidence, and help remove cultural barriers. I’m very grateful to Women Walking West for its generosity. Education is crucial in a woman’s life, and Women Walking West supports women to achieve their goals, to become better citizens, and to become productive members of society. I hope one day I will be able to help women rise and shine just as you have helped me.

I want to take this time to thank Women Walking West’s board members, mentors and staff for the meaningful work that they are doing to make sure that every mother or daughter who has education and career goals achieves them by providing them with financial assistant and a mentorship program. Women Walking West has been very helpful to me in so many ways like becoming more confident in myself which was very hard to do. Since Dr. Sehi invited me to speak at one of the galas, so many doors have been opening for me to share my story to high school students, other refugees and churches. By doing so I have become more confident in public speaking. This is a plus and helpful to me since my current job requires me to speak in public to give presentation or to give my ideas without second guess myself in team meetings.

My goal is to become so educated and financially healthy so that I can give back to those in need because without help from others, like Women Walking West, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

In the years I’ve been an  international student in this country, I have yet to come across an organization that looks out for international women as much as Women Walking West does. I was fortunate to learn about this organization and the services rendered by W3, including mentorship and financial assistance.  I am also grateful for the scholarship that I received.  My scholarship was applied toward my tuition and that lifted some financial constrains off my shoulders. I hope in the future to be able to render assistance to other international women as much as W3 has done for me.

I am so honored, grateful, and thankful to receive the cash award of $800 from Women Walking West. When I submitted my application, I didn’t expect that it will be approved but surprisingly Dr. Sehi called me one evening to inform me about this great news that they are awarding me this money towards my academic expenses. I was so happy about it. I want to express my sincere gratitude toward the entire board of directors and all the people involved in this great organization for the wonderful job you are all doing to help students. With this award, I would be able to buy books for my graduate program starting this August 2019. This organization has really helped foreign born women who are furthering their education here in the US with financial difficulties. I am happy to be a part of such an organization and it is my desire to complete my masters program in Nursing and be able to contribute to help other women in need as well.

Getting a mentor in the first place was an amazing, life changing experience. And then the news of getting the scholarship is unbelievable. For me these things really motivated and inspired me to stand for myself and continue to fulfill my dream.

Thank you so much for establishing this organization to help the foreign women working towards getting their dream fulfilled.

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my gratitude to Women Walking West for supporting me to finish my education in the United States. I am truly thankful for this organization that supports foreign-born women who work towards their goals in the United States and the assistance they provided me since this scholarship will definitely help reduce some of the financial stress I have been carrying over my shoulders for a while.

I have been in the U.S. for 5 years now pursuing education but I am originally from Turkey. I am currently finishing my junior year majoring in Sociology, minoring in Communication and Anthropology with a Business concentration at Hanover College in Indiana. I also have 4 on-campus jobs; I am a Resident Assistant, a Student Ambassador, a Tutor and I work at a café to support myself financially as well.

Until I discovered the existence of Women Walking West, I always felt alone, didn’t feel like I fit in completely or didn’t know there were other women going through the same experiences as I was since my school doesn’t have a big international student population as other schools. Getting connected with this organization opened my eyes and made me feel like I finally found a place for me. This had a big impact on my life and I really enjoy connecting other foreign-born women to this organization and being an advocate for it. I will be the president of the International Club at my college next year so I also can’t wait to use that privilege to be a voice for Women Walking West.

It is just 5 months, I came to The United States and want to continue my education. I want to let you know that the first time I heard about a nonprofit organization called women walking west, I was sure my life is changed and I am going to have a new life in this fabulous country. I sent an email to them and was waiting for the answer. The first time, Dr, George Sehi, called me, I felt so exited to speak with a man who had an important role in many women lives, women from all over the world. He really has an amazing purpose. I am writing to thank you for your generous 500.00$ scholarship. It makes me focus on study more than financial matter. I will never forget this nice memory of the first months of living in The USA. I am doing my phlebotomy course and will start my new life style. I am so honored to be chosen and really wish to take a role in women walking west, in future; to see more women like myself be happy and feel free to educate till the level they want. Because I know when you are a woman, a foreign woman, the new country looks kind of strange for you and you need a hand to help you. I genuinely admire this nonprofit organization for all trouble they have to help the women like me to be happy and successful.

My name is Danni Li. I come from China. My major is pharmacology. I focus on cancer pharmacology and molecular biology. Currently, I am in training as a visiting scholar at the University of Cincinnati. After I came to United States, I find that it is very difficult to communicate with Americans. I feel depressed. My spoken English is not good. It is inconvenient in my daily living. My English listening is also not good. So, I don’t understand them either. I have lots of trouble trying to talk to Americans because of my language barrier. I contacted the Women Walking West. They introduced Winnie Tseng to help me improve my English speaking and listening. She has conducted lessons for more than two months. Winnie is so kind and I am so grateful for her help.

I appreciate the opportunity to receive a $500 scholarship from Conversa Language Center. Dr. George Sehi helped me to receive this scholarship. I am also grateful to him.

Thank you, Women Walking West, for supporting me in improving my English language.

I am writing to extend my sincere gratitude for being selected as a recipient of the prestigious Women Walking West scholarship. I was very happy and appreciative to learn that I was selected as the recipient of your scholarship. I am grateful for everything the organization does for foreign women working towards their dreams in the United States. Thank you very much for this wonderful and generous gift.

After graduation, I have a plan to find a job in art museum in addition, doing my research on Iran’s female contemporary arts. I like to discover how art can be used as a tool for the promotion of changing the lifestyle of women especially who face social and political struggles in conservative countries.

I hope one day I will be able to help women achieve their goals just as you have helped me.

My dream of attending college and pursuing a degree is moving forward, thanks to generous educational scholarships like yours. The award gives me an opportunity to earn skills and knowledge that will serve the medical community following graduation. Thank you personally for your generosity.

I am writing to thank you for your generous $1500.00 “Women Walking West” Scholarship. I was very happy and appreciative to learn that I was selected as the recipient of your scholarship. Women Walking West is an inspirational organization and I would like to express my sincere gratitude for their support of women coming from other counters to the USA. W3 helps to support women like myself to start their journey to success, and this generous contribution will help me to start mine.

My husband and I came to the US 8 years ago holding a university degree from my country, Iran. Initially, I felt I had lost track of my goals, but I always have dreamt of continuing my education and finding my place as a contributing member of society. Taking care of my family and kids takes a lot of my time, but I expressed my passion to further my education and pursue my goals to W3 board members as well as my mentor and they have helped me to stay strong in my desire to learn and pursue it more actively.

I am writing to extend my sincere gratitude for being a selected as a recipient of the prestigious Women Walking West $ 500 scholarship. I was thrilled to learn of my selection for this honour and I am deeply appreciative of your support.

It’s been almost five years since my first arrival to the USA. As an individual who has no English knowledge, I decided to study English. While being a mother of three children and a house wife, it was quite difficult to handle many responsibilities and follow after your dreams. Thankfully, I was able to develop my skills and graduate from a Master of Education from a nice local university. There I found an encouragement to continue for a PhD program but the economic difficulties made it harder to accomplish than I expected. Your generous support is helping me to fulfil my dream to apply and complete a PhD program. It will also allow me to concentrate more of my time for studying and learning.

Your generosity has also inspired me to help others and give back to the community. I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.

Thank you once again.

In the summer of 2010, I came to United States alone for undergraduate education at the Ohio State University (OSU). After arriving at the airport in the middle of night, I stood by the exit door with 2 large baggage, feeling terrified. That was the first time I came to the US, and I had no family, no friends in that strange city, and all I had was a dorm address. I barely know how to speak English, let alone the culture. During 4 years of studying at the OSU, I struggled a lot. However, things are about to change.
The first time when I heard Dr Gorge Sehi talked about his nonprofit organization Women Walking West(W3), I knew that is exactly what I have been looking for. W3 is designated to help none US born women like me to achieve more by helping us conquering 5 barriers: Language, Social, Cultural, Academic, Financial. I need help on social and cultural section. Shortly after signing up online, I got a call from a woman named Felice from W3 and she later became my mentor. She helped me to get involved in social and cultural events at the US. For example, she invited me to a Jewish Passover Dinner with her family. I felt welcomed and definitely more confident while interacting with people from here. This unique experience definitely helped me conquering my social and cultural barrier, which enabled me to achieve more personally and professionally.
I am extremely glad W3 is around, because there are still thousands of women like me out there in the US seeking for help. And W3 can definitely bring help and hope into their lives.

All I want to say is: Thank you, Women Walking West!

I am a mentee of ‘WomenWalkingWest’ organization. I am from the Middle East region and currently a PhD student at UC. When I came to the United
States, I needed help to improve my professional resume in order to find a part-time job. I was advised by one of the prominent mentors of this
institution in summer 2015 and learned how to write a professional and effective resume for my future career.
I stay in contact with this organization, because I think the mentors can give me advice about different issues regarding: life in the United
States, career, education, and communication and the way to adjust to the new context. So, I highly recommend women who come from other countries to
keep in touch with WomenWalkingWest and use the services provided by this institution.

I permanently moved to the United States over 2 years ago, and joining Women Walking West has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Naturally at first adapting to the differences among societies was a huge challenge for me. WWW assisted me in this transitional time and I am greatly appreciative of their contributions and assistance in giving me a better perspective on life.

I graduated from the field of psychology in 2013 at Southern Azad University in Tehran. Upon graduation I was sure that I wanted to continue my education but wasn’t completely sure as to in what field. I was always aware of my passion for helping others. Luckily, through WWW I got to know Mrs. Kim Sellers as she was assigned as my mentor. She was able to guide and assist me to find a good fit based on my personality and passion. With her help, I learned the field that would match my aims and also would be related to my background to be Social work. Therefore, I applied to the Masters of Social Work program at the University of Cincinnati and will begin this program in the fall of 2016.
